A message from FDI president, Dr Greg Chadwick

As the new president of the Fédération Dentaire Internationale World Dental Federation (FDI), Dr Greg Chadwick expressed his devotion to the office in a letter shared with the media titled ‘Together let’s make oral health a right for all’.

Dr Chadwick wrote: “I am extremely honoured and humbled to assume the office of FDI President. This responsibility is not one I take lightly, and I am genuinely excited to embark on this journey with our members, partners and the entire FDI team.”

Dr Chadwick was installed as FDI president during the FDI general assembly in Sydney on 26 Sep for a two-year term, having served as the president-elect since being elected in 2021. He had served as American Dental Association president from 2001-02 and a trustee from 1996-2000. He then served for six years as speaker of the FDI General Assembly and before replacing Prof Ihsane Ben Yahya as the FDI president.

The FDI also appointed new officer to the council in Assist Prof Nikolai Sharkov as president-elect, prof Young Guk Park as treasurer, Prof Dr Hiroshi Ogawa as a member. Prof Jeffery Platt and Dr Walter LAM Yu Hang were also appointed as the chair and member of the Science Committee respectively.

In a video message accompanying the letter, Dr Chadwick shared his aspirations and key areas of emphasis to advance oral health throughout his term. These pivotal areas include the FDI organizational strategy and FDI Position on Free Sugars approved at the 2023 General Assembly.
