ActivePure Technology’s air purifying technology inactivates airborne SARS-CoV-2 Virus in lab tests

In a top biosafety testing facility, ActivePure Technologies’ air purifying technology has inactivated 99.9% of concentrated airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus in an enclosed setting in three minutes.

The testing was conducted in a Bio Safety Level (BSL)-3 and -4 laboratory on November 2020 at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) which also does the testing for the United States military and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The company’s technology can be installed within an HVAC system or as a part of a portable air purifying unit and has been on the market for more than a decade.

The tests were done in triplicate according to FDA guidelines and protocols. In the tests, live SARS-CoV-2 virus was sprayed into a test chamber at concentrations of more than 10 million particles per millilitre.

ActivePure Aerus Pure & Clean and Vollara Air & Surface Pro systems set at their lowest settings of 29 cubic feet per minute of air movement reduced the concentration of the virus by 99.96% in three minutes. During the testing, the purifiers were using only ActivePure Technology with all other air purification functions are either disabled or removed.

Further testing is ongoing with an aim of seeing if the technology is as effective over shorter timeframes.

ActivePure® Technology is developed and owned by Aerus Holdings, a United States-based company, and distributed by its affiliate groups.
