Dentsply Sirona World 2022 in Las Vegas concluded after three successful days, encompassing not only clinical education but also great networking and entertainment. Above all, it created connections to brilliant people, innovative ideas, and ground-breaking technology that together enable best practices and growth beyond industry standards.
“The energy was electrifying! You could feel the excitement and passion to learn, connect, engage, and work together to transform dentistry and improve oral health,” said Andrew Robinson, senior vice-president, North America regional commercial organisation & chief digital officer of Dentsply Sirona. “I am excited to continue to strengthen the connections that were made and to see the transformative ideas and actions that will come out of this year’s event.”
This year’s event was a truly global experience, with a live connection between the Dentsply Sirona World attendees in Las Vegas and Madrid, where another Dentsply Sirona World was happening at the same time. The significant moment highlighted the power of digital technology and Dentsply Sirona’s commitment to bringing better care and more smiles to all corners of the world.
“Dentsply Sirona World unites dental professionals around the world,” said Simon Campion, president and CEO of Dentsply Sirona. “It is a chance to connect, collaborate, and learn from a large and diverse community of peers to enable better outcomes for patients and create healthy smiles.”
Diverse speaker lineup, the return of live surgery, industry-leading clinical education and a focus on sustainability
Dentsply Sirona is committed to promoting women in dentistry, supporting their professional development, advocating for parity, and helping give them a strong voice in the dental community. In line with this, 50% of the mainstage speakers at Dentsply Sirona World 2022 were comprised of women.
Dr Farhad Boltchi’s live simulcast implant surgery during day one of Dentsply Sirona World 2022 drew a crowd. Highly anticipated by attendees, Dr Boltchi repaired a fractured tooth during the live implant surgery using Ossix bone grafting material, a Primeprint 3D printed surgical guide, CEREC Guide 3, for placement of the DS PrimeTaper Implant System, and finally a CEREC-milled temporary restoration – all in one sitting. The next day, Dr Boltchi and his patient were present on the mainstage at Caesars Forum and answered questions from the audience which were submitted via the Dentsply Sirona World app.
Later, Dr Mona Patel presented a case on mainstage where a SureSmile clear aligner therapy was completed using only 18 aligners over 36 weeks.
Attendees participated in over 100 clinical education courses, ranging from implants to digital dentistry, clear aligners, practice management, and more. The educational offering also included a dedicated track for staff, dental assistants, and hygienists.
At the event, Dentsply Sirona also hosted its first-ever sustainability breakout sessions, which focused on what sustainability means for dentistry and the actions practice teams can take to become a more sustainable business. Additionally, the company launched its novel Sustainability Educational Curriculum aimed at empowering dental professionals to start their own sustainable journey.
In her mainstage speech, Cherée Johnson, senior vice-president, general counsel & chief legal officer, highlighted the company’s partnership with SmileTrain, the world’s largest cleft organisation, and encouraged participants to join Dentsply Sirona in their sustainability efforts by signing a sustainability pledge. These initiatives are all part of Dentsply Sirona’s sustainability programme ‘BEYOND: Taking action for a brighter world’.
Pioneering innovative digital solutions: Primescan Connect, Primeprint, DS Core, and more
Attendees at DS World 2022 were offered an exclusive preview of the new Primescan Connect – a highly connective and easy-to-use laptop-based version of the fast and accurate Primescan intraoral scanner.
In his mainstage presentation, “A Digital Office for the Future”, Dr Mike Skramstad showed how he uses the new device in his practice, with attendees then given the chance to experience it for themselves in the exhibit hall.
As the ultimate experience in digital dentistry, Dentsply Sirona World also displayed the new Primeprint Solution and DS Core, launched earlier this year. Primeprint is a highly automated, end-to-end, medical-grade 3D printing system for dental applications, while the cloud-based DS Core platform, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, brings efficiency and connectivity for seamless workflows. Axeos, the top-of-the-line dental X-ray solution with a large field of view, and Axano1, an advanced dental chair that combines modern design, intuitive workflows, and smart digital control, were also front and centre in the exhibit hall, as were other popular innovations in orthodontics, endodontics, and implants.
Extraordinary entertainment and inspirational speakers
Dentsply Sirona’s senior vice-president, chief marketing officer, Erania Brackett, was joined by founder and executive chairwoman of Spanx, Sara Blakely, on mainstage to talk about growing a business from the ground up. As founder of the famous shapewear company, Sara went from a door-to-door salesperson to building a billion-dollar business – paving the way for future female founders.
Award-winning comedian, television host, and writer, David Spade wrapped up the first day with a hilarious stand-up comedy show. On Friday evening, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, Journey, performed and called on the audience to stand up and sing their legendary hits with them – and no one in the ballroom was too shy to refuse, especially to their big hit Don’t Stop Believin’. For Saturday’s final celebration, guests came attired in their “Neon Glam” look and danced the night away at the Omnia Club.
Guests were blown away and it was clear that everyone was already looking forward to Dentsply Sirona World 2023 which will be held from 21-23 Sep at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.
