Geistlich Biomaterials has introduced two new larger sizes of their collagen matrices, Geistlich Mucograft® (30x40mm) and Geistlich Mucograft® Seal (12mm).
Geistlich Mucograft® is a unique collagen matrix specifically designed for the gain of keratinised tissue in soft tissue defects. It consists of two structures; one is a compact macro-structure, which provides stability while allowing open healing. The other is a spongy micro-structure, which supports blood clot stabilisation and the ingrowth of soft tissue cells. With the addition of a 30x40mm size, larger soft tissue defects can now be treated with an open healing approach. This new size joins their other existing 15x20mm and 20x30mm sizes.
Geistlich Mucograft® Seal consists of the same two structures of Geistlich Mucograft® and is designed specifically for soft tissue regeneration in the management of intact extraction sockets. In addition to the original 8mm size for anterior defects, the new 12mm size is ideal for posterior defects and has the same open healing benefit of Geistlich Mucograft®.
“When all the socket walls are intact after an extraction, Geistlich Mucograft® Seal is conveniently shaped to fit perfectly over the grafted site. This not only gives predictable soft tissue healing, but also structurally supports the blood clot. I’m extremely excited that Geistlich Mucograft® Seal will now come in a larger size (12mm) for sealing posterior socket,” said Dr Polly Huang.
