The European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) and the German Association of Oral Implantology (DGI) will be holding a joint EAO-DGI Congress 2023 in Berlin from 28-30 Sep. The theme of year is “Berlin Reloaded” reflecting the cancellation of the conference in 2020 due to the pandemic. The three focuses of the event are: advances in digital technology, frail patients and peri-implantitis.
“We’ve learned a lot from going through the process twice, and have got to know our partners, at the EAO really well. That’s enabled us to build a really interesting and cutting-edge programme. The DGI has more than 8,500 members, so this will be a joint meeting between Europe’s biggest implant dentistry organisation and biggest national association, which is very exciting,” said congress chair Prof Henning Schliephake.
“A new feature this year is the table clinics, which mean speakers and the audience around the table can interact directly. We’ve also refined the Battle of Concepts session to make it even more impactful. We’d previously opted for live surgery, but as the pace of this can be quite slow we’ve opted for videos featuring three pre-recorded surgical procedures this year. The audience and the live panel will be able to hone in on key clinical aspects, maximising the opportunity for clinical discussion,” said congress co-chair and DGI president, Prof Florian Beuer.
Over the three days in Berlin, world-renowned speakers, experts and over five thousand delegates from around the world are expected where they will meet to discuss new surgical techniques and technological trends in oral surgery and implantology.

Austrian manufacturers of dental handpieces and turbines W&H, is expected to present its new product compass for the first time. It highlights the synergies between the medical device manufacturer’s products like the Implantmed Plus motor for implantology and oral surgery and the Piezomed module. The company’s chosen slogan “Oral surgery and implantology in perfect harmony for your treatment success” is said to be a reflection of the interaction between the surgical devices and Osstell’s, a subsidiary of the company, innovative method for measuring implant stability.
At the BioHorizons Camlog stand H09, participants can discover the company’s broad portfolio of innovative and holistic regenerative solutions in biomaterials and implant systems. BioHorizons Camlog will also host two workshops at EAO congress 2023. On the second day of the event, Prof Daniel Rothamel from Germany will speak on allogeneic bone substitute materials for bone regeneration while Dr Robert Oretti from the UK will present the concept of open healing and demonstrate options for its application in modern implant dentistry.
The EAO-DGI joint meeting 2023 will be piloting live translation using AI, which will enable people to experience the congress live in 26 languages.
