Irvine, Ca., USA – Liberty Dental Plan continues to innovate and be a champion for whole health by partnering with the Centre for Oral Health and medical providers to create a programme that will help increase the number of children receiving fluoride varnish – a critical treatment that helps prevent further dental issues later in life.
This Sacramento-based programme begins with a Continuing Medical Education (CME) training of physicians on how to apply the fluoride varnish. The first training took place on March 22, 2016.
This is believed to be the first time a Geographic Managed Care (GMC) Dental Plan has fully funded this type of programme to address children’s lack of oral health check-ups – and treatment. LIBERTY Dental Plan has partnered with the Centre for Oral Health and SynerMed, a leading Managed Service Organisation, for this first training. Ultimately, the training schedule will be further developed with the goal of positively impacting 1,000 to 2,000 children in the first year.
“The future is now with trainings like these. Oral health is a vital part of whole health and physicians will certainly benefit from the support of oral health experts to help respond to the needs of children’s dental health, and to refer children to dentists and specialists who understand each family’s whole health issues. We are proud to lead these collaborative relationships to improve the health of children,” said Dr. Amir Neshat, LIBERTY’s CEO and Founder.
By empowering physicians and paediatricians, LIBERTY Dental Plan is raising the bar for oral health through collaboration, innovation and patient-centred care.
