Neoss® and Brånemark Osseointegration Centre presents the first Osseointegration Day in honour of Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark

Prof Per-Ingvar Brånemark, father of Osseointegration

Neoss® together with Brånemark Osseointegration Centre has presented the first annual Osseointegration Day on 3rd May 2021 in conjunction with the 92nd birthday of Prof Per-Ingvar Brånemark’s, the father of Osseointegration.

The initiative was developed by Barbro K Brånemark together with the Association of Brånemark Osseointegration Centres and Dr Robert Gottlander, in tribute to Prof Brånemark’s innovations and inventions that continue to improve many lives around the world.

The principles of Osseointegration, a term founded by Prof Brånemark after his important breakthrough in the 1950s when he discovered that bone could integrate with titanium components, are the foundation for countless clinical applications.

For this year’s event held in a webinar, Prof Tomas Albrektsson, a long-time colleague and friend of Prof Brånemark, gave a presentation on Osseointegration and its fundamental significance for modern implant dentistry.
