Open house at Dentsply Sirona Implants to mark the 10th year anniversary of Atlantis production in Mölndal (Sweden) –highly interested visitors experienced Atlantis’ two decades of ongoing innovation during a guided tour through the production facilities. Since 1999, Dentsply Sirona’s Atlantis products, solutions and services have been especially tailored to patient-specific prosthetic needs.

On 1st June 2018 Dentsply Sirona Implants hosted customers, friends and employees at its Atlantis production facilities in Mölndal, Sweden. For almost two decades, Atlantis has been equated with prosthetic products, solutions and services that are developed to meet the needs of both, the treatment teams and the patients.
After the introduction to the Dentsply Sirona Implants headquarter and an overview of the Atlantis manufacturing process, guests experienced Atlantis’ world-class production facilities themselves. On a guided tour, they were able to experience first-hand how Atlantis abutments are tailored to the requirements of individual patients. Dentsply Sirona sells and distributes the Atlantis products and services in more than 40 markets all over the world.
World-class manufacturing technologies in Sweden
Opened in 2008, Mölndal is one out of five of Dentsply Sirona Implants’ production sites for suprastructures, abutments and crowns. Mr. Lars Henrikson, Group Vice President Dentsply Sirona Implants points out: “At our Implants’ site in Mölndal we are 350 employees of which 90 employees are dedicated to the development and production of Atlantis abutments.” Dentsply Sirona uses the latest developments in manufacturing technologies as well as computer-based industrial and medical-device expertise. In addition, Dentsply Sirona applies engineering principles to design and produce consistent, high-quality, patient-specific implant restorations for all major implant systems. In the course of the past 20 years more than 3 million Atlantis abutments have been manufactured globally.
Atlantis – ongoing innovation since 1999
In 1999, Dentsply Sirona Implant delivered its first patient-specific Atlantis abutment in titanium. In the following years, Atlantis products and services have been developed continuously. Besides numerous innovations in terms of materials, digitization has always been a major topic of the development work. Outstanding examples are the Atlantis WebOrder online ordering system, launched in 2007, as well as the intraoral and lab-based scanning connectivity. Since 2009, it has expanded the efficiency in case processing. In 2015, Dentsply Sirona started the additive manufacturing of Atlantis Conus concept and Atlantis suprastructures.
The latest innovations in 2017 focused on connectivity and digital workflow aspects: The Atlantis Viewer is now also accessible via mobile devices and the Atlantis CustomBase solution is the first, truly patient-specific, two-piece screw-retained solution, combining an Atlantis abutment and an Atlantis Crown with a screw access hole. Moreover, Atlantis can be connected to CEREC Omnicam and the inLab system. This direct communication is designed to simplify the cooperation between the clinic and dental laboratory, to streamline workflows and thus to provide the patient with an individual restoration.
