Prosper AI, an artificial intelligence platform designed to manage the entire patient journey, has secured $30m in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from Base10 and continued support from Emergence Capital, Y Combinator and Company Ventures.
The funding follows a period of rapid growth for the company. Since its previous funding round six months ago, Prosper AI has increased revenue fivefold, added more than 40 healthcare organisations as customers, expanded its reach to over 150,000 healthcare providers and now supports more than $1.3bn in patient care. The company reports that it wins 80% of competitive evaluations.
As healthcare providers seek to automate not only appointment scheduling but also insurance verification and patient billing, Prosper AI is positioning itself as a platform that supports financially cleared appointments. Its customer base includes outpatient groups such as Preferred Dermatology, health systems including Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, and healthcare technology companies such as Athenahealth.
Expanding beyond appointment scheduling
Prosper AI aims to address administrative processes that occur before and after care delivery, including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, patient billing and collections. These functions have traditionally been managed through separate teams and software systems, contributing to administrative inefficiencies across healthcare.
The platform answers patient calls, schedules appointments directly within electronic health record systems, verifies insurance benefits, automates patient billing and communicates with insurers when additional information is required. By managing these processes through a single platform, the company says it can help providers reduce administrative costs while improving financial transparency for patients.
Adoption among providers and technology companies
Healthcare organisations increasingly evaluating AI solutions have selected Prosper AI following competitive assessments.
Jonathan Banta, chief executive officer of The 44 Group and co-founder of The Executive Roundtable, said the platform stood out for its broader capabilities beyond scheduling, including insurance verification and patient financial workflows.
Noah England, chief operating officer of Piedmont Dermatology, noted that the platform was able to manage more than half of patient conversations end-to-end, including real-time benefits verification.
The company has also been adopted by major healthcare technology providers. Athenahealth selected Prosper AI following an evaluation of AI solutions for internal voice workflows, while ImagineSoftware chose the platform after conducting a competitive assessment.
Supporting future growth
The new funding will support the expansion of Prosper AI’s engineering and customer-facing teams, strengthen integrations with leading electronic health record platforms and accelerate adoption among healthcare providers and health systems.
According to co-founder and co-chief executive officer Xavier de Gracia, healthcare organisations increasingly prefer a unified platform capable of managing scheduling, insurance verification and billing workflows rather than separate solutions for each task.
Prosper AI ultimately aims to build an AI-powered workforce to support healthcare administration, helping reduce inefficiencies, improve access to care and allow clinicians to devote more time to patient care.
